What Is a FEES Evaluation?
A Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) is a gold-standard instrumental assessment that allows a speech-language pathologist to directly visualize the pharynx and larynx during swallowing. A thin, flexible endoscope is passed through the nose to observe how a patient manages food, liquids, and secretions in real time.
FEES provides critical clinical information that a bedside swallowing evaluation cannot — including silent aspiration, pharyngeal residue, laryngeal sensation, and the effectiveness of compensatory strategies. It is safe, well-tolerated, and can be performed at bedside without sedation or radiation.
Why Mobile FEES at Your SNF?
Eliminate Transfer Risk
Transporting medically complex patients for instrumental studies carries real risk — and real cost. Mobile FEES brings the evaluation to your patient, not the other way around.
Your Patient Stays in Their Environment
Studies performed in the patient’s own setting often yield more accurate results and cause less disruption to their care routine.
Faster Clinical Decision-Making
Don’t wait days or weeks for a hospital appointment. With scheduling available within 1–3 business days, you can move forward with diet and management decisions without delay.
Collaborative Approach
We work directly with your treating SLP. Our reports are designed to support your clinical recommendations, not replace them.
What to Expect on the Day of the Study
Our clinician arrives at your facility with all necessary equipment. The evaluation is performed at bedside and typically takes 30–60 minutes from setup to completion. Your patient remains in their room throughout.
Following the study, a full written report is provided detailing findings, diet and liquid recommendations, and compensatory strategy effectiveness. Video documentation is maintained securely for your records.Ready to Refer a Patient?
